2005-09-26 The 2005 Golden Microphone Award

The 2005 Golden Microphones Award was held in Helsingborg on friday the 23rd of September. Every other year, since 1986, Milab Microphones has awarded sound engineers for meritorious achievements in Swedish productions.

The award was founded to bring out the skill and professionalism of all excellent (and sometimes forgotten) sound engineers that make the sound of an artist or a recording.

The price is a golden Milab LSR-3000. The microphone is gold-plated and fully functional. The jury consists of the winner/winners from the previous year, sounds consultants and representatives from Milab Microphones.

Mattias NilssonThe appointed winner of The 2005 Golden Microphone Award was: Mattias Nilsson

Mattias Nilsson started his first recording studio, Hit Parade Studio, right after his studies in music technology. But the last years he has been more into FOH sound engineering. He has specialized in Heavy Metal. In spite of his age, Mattias has made a great career and is now very skilled as a sound engineer. He has been, and still is, working with well known bands and big tours in Europe, USA, Australia and Asia. He has also been a promoter for music festivals.

If we should try to bring up one specific instrument which make Mattias to a very specific sound engineer with a specific sound, we would like to point out drums. His sound is characterized by powerful attacks, controlled dynamics and focus on details. The sound reproduction is total, which is decisive for being successful in Heavy Metal music.

Thanks to Mattias, we have developed one of our bigger successes in our product line: The Milab drum kit pack, based on the Milab VM-44-model.

2005-02-01 Milab Microphones goes Down Under

Milab Microphones has appointed Microphone Solutions Australia for the distribution of Milab Microphones on the Australian market.

Milab has not had a distributor in Australia for some years and we are looking forward to meet the demands of Australian music professionals again.

The owner of the company, Darren Halifax has been in the business for 20 years. The last 10 years he has run Satellite Recording Studio in Perth, WA. Microphone Solutions Australia delivers the highest level, quality sound experience available.

Darren HalifaxDarren Halifax: -Our company specialises in the provision of what we consider to be one of the best microphones available. Our intention wasn’t to sell the Milab range. We approached Milab for one reason only and that was to take Satellite to a higher level with respect to sound quality. The results have been nothing short of outstanding and have made the decision for us to sell their products an easy one. The fact that Milab offered a ‘lifetime warranty’ was merely an added bonus.

-We recently recorded James Morrison with our VIP-50 and he was so impressed that he used it in a recording with Lalo Schifrin and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in a production titled 'Jazz Meets The Symphony' - to be released later this year under Mr Schifrin’s record label ALEPH Records.

-We are proud to be able to offer to the Australian market what we consider to be a genuine classic product from a genuine classic company.

We welcome Darren and Microphone Solutions Australia as a distributor for Milab Microphones!
